Editor
Draw the plant. Not the code.
Pages, widgets, pipes and animations with drag & drop, snap and live preview.
Desktop SCADA / HMI for machine builders
Industrial Canvas runs on Windows, next to the machine, with no mandatory cloud. Trends, alarms, recipes, reports and print canvas come ready: connect the PLC and build the HMI, not the infrastructure.
Every image on this site is a real capture of the running software.
Process synoptic with P&ID symbols animated by tags.
What's new
Platform
You install Editor, Runtime and Viewer. Each has its own icon and one job, so engineering and operations never get in each other's way.
Engineering
Where you design pages, variables, alarms, recipes and reports.
Production
Runs the sealed project on the machine, connected to the field.
Operators
The operator screen: local, multiple or remote, always play-only.
Connectivity
Run multiple independent connections at the same time: acquire variables through OPC UA Client, MELSEC, Modbus TCP or MQTT, use them in Runtime, then expose selected data through OPC UA Server.
01 · Simultaneous acquisition
Each connection keeps its endpoint, state, quality and update cycle while variables converge in one Runtime namespace.
OPC UA Client
Browse the PLC tag tree, certificate-based security profiles, DataChange subscriptions and automatic reconnection.
OPC UA Server
Your machine becomes a data source: MES, ERP and line supervision read the tags with no middleware.
OPC DA Client and Server
Work alongside the installed base: legacy plants and software keep exchanging data with nothing to rewrite.
MELSEC
Direct dialogue with Mitsubishi Electric PLCs: no gateway, no third-party driver to licence.
MQTT
Publish and subscribe process data to corporate brokers or IIoT platforms, whenever you actually need it.
Modbus TCP
Holding/Input/Coil register mapping with instant read test: drives, instruments and remote I/O in minutes.
Line PLC
OPC UA Client

Industrial Canvas Runtime
Normalises variables for synoptics, alarms, historian, recipes and reports.
OPC UA Server
● ENDPOINT ACTIVE
Publishes selected variables to authorised line clients.
One complete platform
Engineering depth where it matters, guided daily workflows where speed and clarity matter.
Configure the standard. Script only the exception.
Recipes, alarms, events, trends and reports are ready-to-configure systems. No hand-written script is required for standard workflows; scripting remains available for specialised logic.
Parameters, versions, validation and controlled transfer to the PLC.
Priorities, states, acknowledgement, history and operator context.
Configured sampling, quality and timestamp with live and historical analysis.
Integrated designer for tables, charts and translated headers, with preview and PDF export.
A local SQLite Runtime Database keeps historian, alarms, events and Audit Trail separate from the static project and from optional external databases.
Assign screens and actions by role. Operators stay focused; maintenance, supervisors and administrators receive the tools their responsibility requires.
The integrated JavaScript engine provides controlled APIs for tags, pages, widgets, alarms and Runtime actions. Autocompletion and preventive checks help customise without exposing system internals.
These are design references, not product certification or automatic compliance. Final validation depends on the customer's configuration, process and procedures.
The Editor speaks the engineer's language. On the machine, operators see the Runtime in their own language: labels, alarms and messages come from a dedicated language database you can edit and switch on the fly.
The software is protected by an encrypted USB dongle: the machine stays self-contained, with no cloud and no dependency on the customer network.
Documentation & reuse
The Editor generates the documents you need for the SAT with the end customer, in every language configured in the project.
Every page, popup and symbol rendered once, with numbered widgets, linked variable, command type and input limits (e.g. 0 … 1000).
Each widget marked with its enabling letter and the authorised groups and users, as configured.
Complete lists with variable, condition, priority, group and the “How to resolve” instruction written in the Editor.
Export a page with its popups, symbols and the variables it uses, detected automatically; import it in another project with conflict check.
Logo, title and document fields are customisable in the horizontal and vertical utility print layouts. Texts come from the project translations.
When enabled in the Editor, Record captures a spot trace for up to 5 minutes with a separate 10–1000 ms sampling setting. Operators can inspect acquired values, quality, point count and duration, with the observed timing kept distinct from the requested sampling. Zoom and cursors support analysis; Print PDF reuses the project’s portrait or landscape chart print canvas, with optional timestamps. The recording window follows the project language.
Who it is for
Ship machines with a branded, translated HMI in every market.
Reuse pages and templates across projects and customers.
Alarms, history and diagnostics readable in seconds.
Recipes, reports and multiple screens from one runtime.
Who's behind it
Industrial Canvas is built by Automatica Software Srl, which develops PLC and HMI software and commissions industrial machines every day. Not a lab product: every feature answers a problem seen in production.

Launch pilot programme
Rigorous testing is our job: we verify the product on multiple controllers and industrial protocols before it ever reaches a plant. Pilots receive a product that has already been proven; their final feedback is a valuable input that shapes bug fixes, improvements and real-world needs.
First year included
Updates and support are included for the first year of the pilot programme. Rigorous testing is on us; the pilot's final feedback is a valuable contribution to bug fixes, improvements and future needs — not a task on their shoulders.
Describe the machine, PLC, timeline and project goal.
Together we verify requirements, environment and use-case compatibility.
We agree the package, onboarding and feedback process.
If you run a legacy SCADA/HMI project, we analyse it and quantify the conversion to Industrial Canvas, with an advantageous condition reserved for those who believe in the project at launch.
Tell us about line, PLC and timeline: we answer with a technical assessment and, if useful, a guided demo on your case.
